Pathanamthitta, a hilly terrain of pristine beauty is the land of
temples, rivers, mountain ranges and coconut groves. More than fifty
per cent of the total area of this is covered by forests. popular as
the headquarters of pilgrim worship in Kerala. The district is
frequented by visitors from India and abroad often for its water
fiestas, religious shrines and the cultural training centre.
Sabarimala, the famous temple of lord Ayyappa situated atop a hill
near river Pampa is the most famous pilgrim centre of Hindus in
Kerala. Pathanamthitta is bordered by the Western Ghats on the east, Kollam
district on the south, Alappuzha district on the west and Kottayam
and Idukki districts on the north.

Other interests here are: Perunthenaruvi, Kaviyoor, Aranmula,
Niranam, Malayalapuzha, Sabarimala, Thiruvalla, Mannadi,
Cherukolpuzha, Manjanikara Church, Maramon, Omallur, Kadamanitta,
Konni, Muloor Smarakam, Kodumon Chilanthiyambalam, Pamba, Parumala,
Vasthuvidya Gurukulam, Parumala etc. |
