Kunnathur
Mana Ayurvedic Heri-tage Hotel (KMAH) is located at Punnayurkulam
about 12 km from Guruvayur Temple. The Mana is about 120 years
old and is a living
example of Kerala’s architectural legacy.
The hotel offers accommodation in the form of Royal Club (Non
A/c) and Deluxe A/c rooms and a Presidential Suite. All rooms
are have a gracious, traditional décor and are equipped
with modern amenities.
The Akathalam and Nikumbhila offer exclusive dining experiences.
The multicuisine Akathalam serves regional favourites as well
as international flavours, all skillfully turned out by experienced
and skilled chefs. The Nikumbhila is the place for delicious
seafood. Served in locally crafted clay pots, this specialty
restaurant’s exotic wooden furniture is a perfect complement
to the resort’s general ambience.
One of the most outstanding features of KMAH is the Koothambalam
or traditional theatre. Generally, such theatres are built
as an annexe to some Hindu temples and used as the stage for
performance of “Koothu” and “Koodiyattam”, two of Kerala’s
classical dance drama forms. Here, the “Koothambalam” is a
spacious conference hall, providing an ideal environment for
social and business get-togethers, corporate meetings, etc.
Other facilities at KMAH include Ayurveda packages, travel
and tour assistance, satellite television, doctor on call,
shuttle courts, etc.
The Sree Krishna Swamy Temple at Guruvayur, often called the
Dwaraka of the South, attracts thousands of pilgrims from
all over the country. Other nearby attractions is Punnathoor
Elephant Kotta, Vadakunnathan Temple, Beyam Lake, Thriprayar
Temple,
Sakthan Thampuran Palace, Cheraman Mazjid and Nalappat Mana,
home of the noted poet and writer, the late Madhavikutty (Kamala
Suraiyya).
