Dress
The
Keralite's preference for simple living is reflected in the attire
of the region. The Keralite has a liking for purity: white dresses
marked by their elegance are a favourite with males as well as
females.The popular male dress among most communities is a white
fabric (mundu) worn around the waist and allowed to touch the feet.
Neriyathu is the traditional costume of Hindu women. The traditional dress of Christian women is a white garment folded into a number of fan-like fringes. Muslim women wear a dark blue cloth from waist to ankles, and a white jacket with long sleeves. |
